and welcome to my website. Spending time with a community inspires and focuses thinking around ideas of what an arts organisation can mean to the growth of a city. Programming that exhilarates as much as it guides and challenges can have a profound effect of the quality of life in a city. The response of the public to this approach in Vallejo and Wellington has been humbling. The Vallejo Symphony finished our past season with a completely sold-out hall and the largest-ever box office returns in the organisation’s 85 year history. In New Zealand, Orchestra Wellington has posted their largest-ever subscription result, with a figure that is almost unheard of in Australasia. I hope this site creates discussion – the arts connect and enrich communities. Enjoy!
and welcome to my website. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. After my opening concert with the Vallejo Symphony as their new MD, I flew off to Düsseldorf to meet with several orchestras in North Rhine Westphalia. I’m now in Wellington, about to perform our last concert of the season to another sold-out house, as well as launch our 2017 season. I am proud to say that the orchestra is on track to comfortably exceed the overall subscription numbers of this year! Spending time with key stakeholders also inspired me and has focused my thinking around ideas of what an arts organisation can mean to the growth of a community, and the response of the public has been humbling. I hope this site creates discussion – the arts connect and enrich communities. Enjoy! With photos courtesy of Simon Clark.read more
