"Alice" nominated for Classical Album of the Year

I’ve just been informed that the CD, “Alice”, featuring the works of Dame Gillian Whitehead has received a nomination for Classical Album of the Year. Working with Gillian, Helen Medlyn, Caroline Mills and the NZSO was a predictably energizing experience.

This is coming right after the release of the CD, entitled “Solstice”, by the brilliant composer Leonie Holmes, which also features the national orchestra of New Zealand – the NZSO. Solstice has been enjoying a long period in the NZ Classical Chart – currently sitting just below Sol3 Mio – an album that at its release outsold Lorde’s brilliant album in New Zealand. I certainly hope that Sol3 Mio emulates this feat in overseas markets as well, now that they have been picked up by Decca! The photo above is the cover art for this wonderful collection of works.

I will post more information when the press release comes out!
